Housing Finance Assistant (Part Time)

MUST HAVE LOCAL AUTHORITY, HOUSING ASSOCIATION OR SOCIAL HOUSING EXPERIENCE
The Salary is £(phone number removed) per annum (pro rata)
This role is 3 days a week 9am to 5pm
We are looking for a Part Time Finance Assistant to provide an excellent management accounting service and to lead on the management of data necessary for the production of compliance and performance reports.
Bookkeeping
Work closely with Finance/Management colleagues to ensure smooth operation of all finance matters. Manage processes for the weekly rent debit, all accounts payable and all accounts receivable work. Input accounting data into the accounting system with speed and accuracy. Assist with and prepare a first draft of the month end/quarter end management accounts. Assist in the production of financial statements (rent accounts), preparation of spreadsheets, reports and correspondence as required. Plan, organise and manage own workload to ensure your contribution to the company's financial reporting process is achieved in a timely and accurate manner. Receive and process all invoices, expense forms and requests for payment. Verify calculations and input codes in to the Accounts system in an accurate manner. Maintain and reconcile Direct Debit mandates. Deal with petty cash and ensure that reconciliations are completed on a weekly basis. Ensure all filing is done in a timely and accurate manner. Prepare cheques for payment. Ensure that all post is sent daily.
Data Management
Keep the Association's customer databases up to date ensuring integrity of information. Compile information for internal and external performance reports using the Association's computer systems. Collate statistical performance returns as required by funders, internal stakeholders and commissioning authorities.

To attend meetings both internally and externally at the direction of the Finance Manager. To attend training from time to time at the direction of the Finance Manager. To work outside normal office hours at the direction of the Finance Manager. To ensure adequate office cover is maintained at all times
Experience & Knowledge
Experience of working within a finance department, especially with weekly rent debit work, accounts payable and receivable work.
Understanding of the needs of a small BME association and the needs of the vulnerable and disabled.
Experience of using databases to produce reports
Awareness of the provisions of the Data Protection Act
Understanding of accounting processes and procedures
Skills & Education
Part Qualified in ACA, ACCA, CIMA, FMAAT or equivalent.
Relevant 'A' levels or equivalent qualification or demonstrated ability in English & Maths
Good level of competence in Excel, Word and Outlook and computerised accounting software
