We are currently searching for an experienced Java Software Developer to work with our public sector customer on a 12-month contract, focused on ongoing projects to develop and modernise their applications. Java 7 / Dropwizard / Mainframe Technologies
Working as part of a Software Engineering Applications Development & Support Team, the Java Software Developer will be tasked with the continued development, enhancement and modernisation of our client\'s applications, both internal and public / customer facing. They will work as part of a flexible Software Delivery team, working in a variety of styles, including Agile. It is imperative that the successful applicant for this opportunity have development build skills, as well as experience of working with Java 7 and previous versions.
We believe that the customer would welcome candidates with experience with Dropwizard, Play or older versions of Java. Any experience of working with Natural and Adabas would also be very beneficial for this project.
We anticipate that the Java Software Developer will be responsible for the following tasks and activities:
*working on the technical implementation of applications and technical designs, including producing cost and timescale estimates and identifying risks. On larger projects, will work within a technical framework of the project to meet customer requirements.
*Software Development, using both recognised and / or specialist programming languages and technologies.
*Unit Testing of developed applications.
*Technical planning within the team.
*Mentoring Junior Developers.
*work collaboratively, supporting and learning from team members.
*conduct code reviews for quality assurance purposes.
We believe that the following skills and experience would also prove beneficial to the customer and their projects:
*experience of working within an Agile system development methodology, particularly Scrum.
*ability to understand and assess business and operational requirements, architectural goals and constraints.
Please see outlined below the technical environment for this project and the skills our customer is seeking:
*application stack knowledge, ideally with experience of working with Java 7 (and previous versions), Scala, EJB, JDBC, XML, WSDL, JSP, HTML, JavaScript, Struts, Weblogic Application Server, Weblogic Workshop, Oracle, SQL, MongoDB, Dropwizard and Play Framework.
*Mainframe knowledge, with experience in Natural, N2O, JCL, Rexx, Adabas, TSO, ISPF, Clist, CICS, TWS, MQ, EntireX, RPC service, creation, Cobol, Assembler, FP Printing, FTP and sFTP.
*development / build tools, with experience in Eclipse IDE, NaturalONE, Ant, Maven, Jenkins, Puppet, Docker, Drone, Kubernetes, Cloud technologies, Source Control Management systems including Clearcase and Git.
