Part Time - Medical and Rehabilitation Manager - Catastrophic Injury

DWF is seeking to recruit an experienced Registered Nurse, Chartered Physiotherapist, Case Manager or Occupational Therapist who will provide a range of Medical and Rehabilitation services, as part of our wider, nationally recognised Catastrophic Personal Injury department.

Please note that this role is a Part Time role for 2-3 days per week.

The role can be based remotely with travel to either in Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Liverpool, Newcastle, Edinburgh or London.

Operating as part of an expanding MRM Team of qualified health professionals with extensive experience of catastrophic injuries and treatment with preferably a background in case management. The successful candidate as a Medical and Rehabilitation Manager will help to evaluate claims effectively, accurately and offer appropriate rehabilitation solutions to those with life changing injuries.

The role will include:

  • Reviewing medical records to produce medical record chronologies and analysing them to assist in the claims defence process.
  • Assess suitability of nominated rehabilitation Case Managers and suggest alternative as necessary.
  • Interpretation, analysis and advice on the Immediate Needs Assessment and likely effectiveness and cost of ongoing rehabilitation recommendations to achieve targeted functional improvements. Working with and challenging Case Managers to ensure that rehabilitation goals are, clinically justifiable, proportionate to the injury and have clear progress and outcome measures.
  • Having input at clinical multi-disciplinary meetings and running case surgeries.
  • Reviewing the extent of injuries, causation, pre and post-accident medical history and future impact, appropriateness of treatment recommended.
  • Sourcing medical experts and critiquing medical reports.
  • Support development of new medical and rehabilitation products and services and source new providers.

Requirements: A proven healthcare professional registered with a professional body; NMC or HCPC.


  • A minimum of 6 years post - qualification experience.
  • Significant experience of brain injury, spinal injury and catastrophic injury patients in an acute care or rehab setting and ideally as a Case Manager.
  • Experience with social, vocational, housing and psychological aspects of care.
  • A sound understanding of NICE guidelines, statutory healthcare polices and relevant clinical best practice.
  • Evidence of ongoing and appropriate CPD.
  • Experience in insurance would be advantageous (though not essential)
