Specification: MLD, EBD, Autism, Behaviour Specialist, Complex Needs

Qualifications desired: Team Teach, MAPPA, positive handling, Makaton, NAPPI, SEND Certificate.

Qualifications desired: NVQ LV2 or Lv3 Teaching assistants, BA in Education Studies, BA Early childhood studies or equivalent, Child care

Experience: At least six months experience

Shift Pattern: Monday to Wednesday

The role

As a Special Needs teaching assistant, you will be supporting a child who has Autism in year 6 on a one to one basis. You must have experience working with children who have autism or have EBD or SBD or similar disabilities.

This is a dedicated 1:1 role in the same class for the full academic year. You will be key to the successful academic outcome of the child. You must be committed to the role and must be available Monday to Wednesday.

You must be a good communicator and able to establish a good working relationship with the child and the child's parents. You must be able to work well with the class teacher and the School SENCO.

The school

This is a very small rural school that has a very close nit team. Every class is mixed and it's a real team player environment. The Head teacher is fantastic and very welcoming to new team members. The Head Teacher is very friendly and is very keen on making sure that all her staff are happy. This school is "OUTSTANDING" with OFSTED.The Head Teacher has a very high expectation of both staff and pupils. If you are looking to work in a school with a very positive environment then this is the school for you.

Interview process.

This role is to start ASAP and does not require an interview by the school. As long as you fit the criteria and complete the Now Education registration successfully you would start ASAP.

Please see below some expectations of a Special Needs teaching assistant:

• Setting up equipment and helping to prepare the classroom for lessons, tidying up afterwards and helping with displays.

• Providing support to children who have Special Needs help with their work.

•Liaise with SENCO and Class teacher to track child's progress.

• Providing one-to-one and small group support to children who need it.

• Have great communication links with the child's parents or guardians

• Looking after children's pastoral needs, including dealing with playground accidents and caring for children who are upset.

What you need

* You must have at least 6 months experience within a mainstream or SEND school setting.

* Must have excellent knowledge of working with children who have special needs.

* Must have a driving license

* Experience in a primary setting

* You must have at least a lv 2 NVQ in classroom support or equivalent.

* You must be very passionate about making a difference in children's lives.
